SWSRC sponsors, administers and manages a Community Meal Program for adults 55+. It is located at 100/110 Adamar Road. The program employ a cook/meal coordinator and serves a luncheon meal three times per week. An average of 40 meals are served each meal day, totalling nearly 6,000 meals per year! Core funding is received from the WRHA. Participants pay $8.00 for dine-in, & $8.75 per meal and are welcome to volunteer to help make these programs a success.
The meal program is a great opportunity to meet people and enjoy a nutritious, home-cooked meal in the company of others. The meal program is open to everyone over the age of 55 so please feel free to bring a friend!
Healthy and Affordable
Healthy and affordable lunches are offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12:00pm in the recreation hall at 100/110 Adamar Road
The cost of the meal is $8.00 and typically includes a soup or salad to start, a main course, dessert and tea or coffee.
Takeout meals cost $8.75 and can be ordered by those unable to attend to the meal program in person (i.e. people who have very limited mobility or are ill).
To Participate You Must Sign Up
To participate in the meal, you must sign up at least 48 hours in advance. You can sign up in person by adding your name to the sign-in sheet in the dining room or by calling 204 269-6322 (available 24 hours daily)
People Enjoy Eating and Socializing
In a recent survey of meal program participants, 91% of respondents reported that they enjoyed eating and socializing with others at the meal program!
- 87% of respondents reported that both staff and volunteers at the meal program are friendly and courteous.
- 81% of respondents reported that they enjoyed the atmosphere at the meal program.

Volunteers are Crucial
Volunteers are crucial to the meal program! They are needed to help set and clear the tables, serve food, deliver meals to suites and handle cash. Training is provided and all volunteers receive a half-price meal on day(s) they volunteer. The time commitment varies with each job and many of the jobs can be done at your own pace.
